The Retreat · Bright 2‑Bed Holiday Apartment

Well located and comfortable Positive: The place was fairly easy to find and the owner came out to bring us the keys. We easily parked in the drive. There was a nice welcome gift with some locally sourced crisps and juice as well as milk in the fridge. Beds and other furniture were comfortable. There was a view of an attractive garden. The place was well located for easy drives to Dover Castle, the White Cliffs of Dover, Deal Castle and Walmer Castle. The area where the house was located was quiet at night. The shutters on the windows allowed us to easily control the air flow and light through the windows on warm days. There was a Coop nearby to pick up some food. Negative: I thought the kitchen could have used a few items, including a pasta strainer, pizza cutter and salad bowl. The hosts later said they would have helped with these items if we asked, but I thought these were not things we should have had to ask for. The shower head needs to be kept on a lower position or pointed to the wall or water gets on the floor when you shower. This would probably not matter if you are shorter. I thought these things were minor.

Excellent apartment, would stay again Positive: The owners are there to meet you and hand over the keys. Then you are left to explore this beautiful apartment. The pictures are pretty good, so it’s exactly as you see it. Thecar park is a bonus, just in front of the white garage door and the apartment is up a flight of steps. There is tea, coffee and sugar and milk in the fridge, with crisps and juice also. Nice welcome pack, 🙏 thanks There is a super king size in the main bed and 2 single in bed 2. There is a shower over the bath. Ideal for our needs. Will highly recommend and we would 100% stay there again Negative: Road noise during the day, but quiet at night. So if you’re a light sleeper, bring ear buds. I slept like a log.

Lovely few days. Short walk into town. Lots to do, castles, pier, restaurants, markets, live music. Positive: Beautiful flat. Spacious, comfortable. Bright and airy. Great to have parking. Lovely hosts. Thank you for all the little goodies. Loved all the helpful leaflets, didn’t need to go to tourist office.
